Buying vs. Renting
Every day I hear from prospective clients that they just aren’t sure if home ownership is for them. I hear reasoning such as “I don’t have a down payment, my credit is not so good, I’m waiting for a raise from work”
These are all valid concerns, and you would expect that as a realtor I would advise you that it is better to buy than to rent.
So, no surprises here, in my opinion it is always better to buy than to rent. I know that the cost of home ownership can be high, but new mortgage options have really made home ownership affordable. Mortgage terms as long as 40 years are now being offered, zero down mortgages are available.
Short answer, yes it is better to buy than to rent, but in the end it comes to what you are most comfortable with. I’m sure your landlord is quite happy having you pay his mortgage.
